I have to be honest, I’ve been out of touch with the current music scene for a while now (most of my favorite bands and music belongs to the 1970’s & 90’s and rightly so!). Somewhere down the line over the last few years I became cynical that there just wasn’t enough great music being put out there and i stopped actively searching for it. Its a feeling that I am sure a lot of you share as well.
I have to say though that each day that I work on this blog is a day that proves me wrong & i love it :). Every day (well for the last two weeks i.e.) I have discovered something new, something special, something thats blown my mind; all of which now makes me greet each day with a new found excitement. I’ve been a fool not to have done this much sooner!
Hahaha if you’re wondering what brought about these self confessional musings just listen to these couple of songs: Bloodbuzz Ohio & Terrible Love by American rock band The National from their latest album High Violet. I love lead singer Matt Berningers voice, ah that baritone, what wouldn’t I give to have a voice like that
Bloodbuzz Ohio
Terrible Love (ignore the first 30 seconds of the video if you want to get straight to the music)
What makes the songs stand out are the lyrics: insightful, deep & moving (especially on Terrible love) with killer lines.
From Bloodbuzz Ohio… ‘i owe money to the money to the money i owe’
From Terrible Love….‘it takes an ocean not to break’
